The Wisdom of My Father

The Wisdom of My Father

My father grew up in an age and time that would have easily resulted in incarceration or death for those of us who never had to face discrimination at every corner. His ability not only to pursue his own achievements and accomplishments, but provide our family with guidance, discipline, morals, ethics, and wisdom, at a time that demanded “tough-nosed” responses to adversity or hardships is quite remarkable.

In the face of adversity and without adequate rest or sleep, my father has always placed his family’s needs before his own. Even when faced with the difficulty of providing urgent medical care for his son, which required taking trips to El Paso regardless of the time and on a budget of $XX per month, keeping in mind that he still had to go to work the next day.

Our actions or inactions while confronted with situations that would typically leave most of us cowering are definitely a true gauge of our character. For this reason, it becomes essential for us, his sons, to express how our father has been an inspirational and motivating source of encouragement and support.
